NURSE PRACTIONER TO JOIN PRACTICE
At the end of May 2008 a Nurse Practitioner, Stephanie Hesse, joined our clinical staff. This nurse will work with the duty doctor to meet patients needs for same day care. Stephanie is a specialist nurse, trained in the management of acute (or sudden onset) illness, and will be able to prescribe for many conditions herself. She has many years experience offering this type of care. She is family planning trained and can prescribe, refer and treat patients who have a sudden illness or an ongoing illness
Patients seeking same day appointments may be routed to the Nurse Practitioner in the first instance, but will be passed on for a doctor’s opinion if the condition is complex or ongoing.
Reception staff will be given training so that they are able to route patients appropriately, and we would ask our patients to assist the receptionists by answering any questions asked. |
