Out of Hours
At all times of the day telephone 01953 881247 for emergency assistance. Before 8.30am and after 6.30pm there will be a recorded message telling you a number to telephone in order to contact the out of hours service. This is usually 01603 488488

Appointments
To book an appointment, please telephone on 01953 881247, or call into the surgery. All calls are queued, so please hold until the receptionist answers.

Home Visits
Whilst it is preferable patients come to the surgery, if someone is really are too unwell to come, a doctor or paramedic will visit. Home visits will only be made for medical reasons, not for social reasons. Please telephone before 10.00 a. m. to request a home visit.

Vaccination Schedule

YOUNG PEOPLE
Young people are welcome to book an appointment with a nurse or doctor to discuss any health related matters. Young people’s health records are kept confidential in the same way as adults.

NEW PATIENT CHECK UPS
All new patients over five years of age are warmly invited to come to see one of our nurses. It is very important that this check is done within four weeks of registration in order to acquire some background medical information before we receive your notes from your last doctor.

OVER 75 CHECKS
Patients who are over 75 years of age, and who have not been seen in a clinic for more than one year, may ask for a consultation with our nurses for a general health review.

PATIENT CHECKS
Patients between 16 and 75 years of age may ask for a general health review with our nurses if they have not been seen in a clinic for more than three years.

PHLEBOTOMY CLINIC
Our practice phlebotomist is available to take blood tests, by appointment, from 8.30am to 12.00 noon, Monday to Friday.

MINOR SURGERY
All the doctors perform minor surgery. Arrangements for minor surgery will only be made following consultation with a doctor. 

 
MATERNITY SERVICES
Dr V Amies, Dr O Barnes and Dr J Walsh  offer maternity services, supported by the midwife. Antenatal and postnatal clinics are held on Wednesday afternoons. Should you have any problems or questions during your pregnancy, the midwife is there to help.

CONTRACEPTIVE SERVICES
All the partners will offer contraception. Our practice nurses and our nurse practitioner are available to discuss contraception and HRT matters that might be causing concern. Patients should make an appointment with a practice nurse to have pill checks unless specifically directed otherwise by the doctor.

ASTHMA CLINIC
There are two specialist asthma nurses within the practice, Sister Sandie Minto and Nurse Angela Winstone. These nurses will monitor the treatment of your asthma and offer advice when needed. Please do not hesitate to see Sandie if your asthma is causing concern. Appointments are available throughout the week. If you are asthmatic please ensure you book an appointment with Sandie or Angie, for a new patient check, soon after registering with us.

PATIENTS WITH HEART PROBLEMS OR CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE AIRWAYS DISEASE
Patients are welcome to book an appointment with the nurse Sandie Minto who is able to advise and monitor you condition. Patients discharged from hospital following any heart problem should speak to the receptionists and arrange an appointment with Sandie within five days of discharge. If you are newly registering with the practice, and have existing problems, please ensure you make an appointment to see Sandie as soon after registering.

DIABETES CLINIC
Dr W Henderson and Dr Amies run clinics for diabetic patients. Our diabetes qualified practice nurse assists them. Marian Dolphin, is happy to see diabetic patients to offer advice and monitor treatment. If you are newly registering, and are already diabetic please book to see the nurse soon after registering.

CERVICAL SMEARS
Please tell the receptionist if you require a smear test and she will book an appointment with a specialist nurse.

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS –eg HGV MEDICALS
Please discuss your needs with the receptionists who will assist in making an appropriate appointment.

LEG ULCER CLINIC
Care of leg ulcer patients is managed by specialist nurses, from both the district nursing team and practice team.

HOLIDAY VACCINATIONS
The surgery offers only a basic service, and if you are travelling to remote parts you may prefer to book with a Travel Clinic. You must however, make arrangements for Yellow Fever, Japanese Encephalitis or TB vaccination at a specialist travel clinic. In general the National Health Service does not cover vaccinations for travel and there will be a charge for your injections. The reception staff will advise you.

Please ensure you make an appointment with the nurse in plenty of time before you are due to leave the country. The nurse  can not  tell you what injections you may need, this will need to be obtained from a registered travel clinic


HEPATITIS B VACCINATION
Our nurses will give a course of injections and arrange for a blood test to confirm immunity; where this is required for travel abroad, there will be a charge. This will NOT be given for occupational health reasons as your employer will need to organise this for you.
